The visit was arranged together with representatives of Företagarna, the Swedish Federation of Business Owners, and opened a detailed discussion on Swedish manufacturing, exports and international growth.

From local manufacturing to international deliveries

CEO Niklas Hörnell guided the delegation through the facility. The Minister followed DECEL's development from the company's origins to today's production of retarders and control systems for marshalling yards. DECEL manufactures locally in Överhörnäs and supplies customers in Sweden, Finland and Central Asia.

Exports and Central Asia in focus

A central part of the presentation covered DECEL's export business. The strongest interest was in the ongoing projects in Central Asia, where DECEL has built business relationships in recent years and sees opportunities for further growth. One example is the braking system tested at a marshalling yard in Kazakhstan, where DECEL's complete system has been in operation for more than a year.

The region is strategically important for DECEL. Investment in rail infrastructure between Europe and Asia is growing, and the freight corridors between the continents place new demands on the capacity of marshalling yards. Read also: DECEL at the EU Global Gateway summit in Brussels.

Swedish industry on the global market

The visit also gave room to discuss the role of Swedish industrial companies internationally, the importance of innovation and how export promotion can strengthen Swedish competitiveness.

We appreciate the opportunity to show Swedish industry up close and to tell the story of our journey from a local company in Örnsköldsvik to an international supplier to the rail industry. Discussing exports, growth and future opportunities with the Minister for Foreign Trade is both valuable and inspiring.
