The seminar Investment Climate and Business Opportunities in Central Asia V2.0 at the Swedish Parliament in Stockholm

About the seminar

The seminar was organised by the Sweden-Central Asia Friendship Group in the Swedish Parliament and brought together representatives from business, diplomacy, politics and international organisations. The topic was the region's growing importance for trade, investment and international cooperation. The host was Member of Parliament Björn Söder, chair of the friendship group.

Central Asia: a region developing fast

In a few years, Central Asia has become one of the most strategically interesting regions between Europe and Asia. Investment is flowing into transport infrastructure, energy, raw materials and logistics, and trade with Europe is growing. This creates opportunities for Swedish companies with specialist expertise.

The seminar presented market trends and concrete examples of ongoing Swedish initiatives in the region. For DECEL, the discussions on future infrastructure investment and the role of rail in the transport corridors between Europe and Asia were especially valuable, the same theme DECEL later raised at the EU Global Gateway summit in Brussels.

The ambassador highlighted DECEL's work in Kazakhstan

Sweden's ambassador to Kazakhstan, Ewa Polano, described the strong relations between Sweden and Kazakhstan and the opportunities in closer cooperation between the two countries' business communities. She also mentioned DECEL's work in Kazakhstan and the company's efforts to modernise and improve safety in the rail sector. Read about the braking system since tested at a marshalling yard in the country.

DECEL thanks Ewa Polano for her commitment and for the embassy's work supporting Swedish companies on the ground in Kazakhstan. Support from Sweden's diplomatic representation is an important part of building long-term business relationships in the region.

DECEL's long-term work in the region

Central Asia is a strategically important market for DECEL. Through DECEL Central Asia LLP, local partnerships and ongoing projects in Kazakhstan, the company contributes Swedish technology in retarders, yard automation and solutions that improve safety, capacity and efficiency in rail operations.

Central Asia is a region with great future potential, and we see growing interest in modern solutions for rail infrastructure. Seminars like this are important for building relationships, sharing experience and strengthening cooperation between Sweden and the region.
