What the training covered

The training focused on DECEL's retarders and their role in day-to-day operation. Participants went through:

  • how the systems are built and how they work
  • design and dimensioning principles
  • how the components interact to give safe, efficient shunting
  • preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair

Practice in the workshop

Participants followed the work in DECEL's workshop, where braking equipment is assembled, refurbished and tested. Seeing the work up close gives a concrete understanding of how preventive maintenance and repairs are carried out to achieve long service life and high availability.

Why DECEL trains customers' staff

Knowledge transfer is part of DECEL's offer. When operations and maintenance staff understand the systems in depth, operation becomes safer, maintenance more efficient and problems are solved faster out in the yards. Read more about why training matters for safe shunting.

We see great value in bringing operators, technicians and maintenance staff to our site to share knowledge and experience. When users gain a deeper understanding of how the systems work, the result is higher reliability and better conditions for long-term maintenance.

The training is one example of how DECEL works with customers and maintenance organisations to keep yards performing throughout their service life.
